Smarter for you.

We're using smarter technology to help you manage your 401(k). We are a full‑stack service, providing everything from plan design to customer service, making it easier and more efficient for you to implement and maintain.

Our plan sponsor experience includes administration, recordkeeping, investment management, and compliance services in a single, automated experience.

End-to-end solution

Our integrated solution offers all of your 401(k) needs in a single, automated experience. Your 401(k) dashboard lets you manage participants, deferral changes, and payroll updates, all in real time.

Behind the scenes, we are looking out for you, offering guidance throughout the year and monitoring whether your company is at risk of experiencing year-end compliance issues. Reporting and analytics are built in to show you how your employees are doing in real time. Everything is streamlined so you have the information you need, when you need it.

Dedicated Plan Support

Technology and customer experience go hand in hand. Our plan sponsor dashboard is designed to be intuitive and comprehensive, providing everything that you need for your 401(k) offering. But, if you'd like additional support, our dedicated business success team is available. Our team has experience in third-party administration, recordkeeping, and ERISA consulting, and it includes members of ASPPA.

We'll work closely with you to convert your existing 401(k) plan, set up your Betterment 401(k), and help manage your ongoing investment and compliance needs—we’re always here for you.

Participant Education

Not only do we provide the first 401(k) with participant advice through a registered investment advisor, Betterment LLC, but we also offer robust resources on retirement savings. Using Betterment's RetireGuide, participants can see exactly how much they need to save for retirement, and also how much they can spend in retirement. Betterment's Resource Center provides data-driven information on personal finance, investing strategies, and retirement planning.

Fiduciary Care

Through our affiliated registered investment advisor, Betterment LLC, we act as a fiduciary under section 3(38) of ERISA. As a fiduciary, we are legally required to act in the interest of the plan, its participants, and their beneficiaries. Betterment believes strongly in this responsibility and supports the U.S. Department of Labor’s proposal to extend the fiduciary standard.

This helps to reduce your liability as plan sponsor to select and monitor investments. Betterment for Business helps you to choose what's truly best for your employees.

Betterment for Business partners with you to ensure that the transition from your current 401(k) to a better one is completely seamless.
